  • International Day of Transgender Visibility, 31st March-2022

    International Day of Transgender Visibility was observed on 31st March 2022 by SAKHA in Bhubaneswar in coordination with CFAR, Vihaan, SSPED Govt of Odisha and MSJE govt of India. The main objective of the Transgender Visibility Day is to recognize the resilience and accomplishments of the transgender community. The day is celebrated to raise awareness about the struggles that they face, and advocate for more protected rights for them in a bid to reform society and empower this community. On this occasion a free health camp was organized for the transgender persons at Garima Greh. In order to inspire and give platform to their creativity a drawing coemption was also organized at Garima Greh. In the evening an awareness march was organized from Rajmahal Squre to Master Canteen square at Bhubaneswar. A total of 36 transgender persons and staff of the SAKHA participated in the awareness march.

  • STATE LEVEL CONSULTATION ON DRAFT TANSGENDER POLICY-2021:

    SAKHA is committed for the empowerment and inclusion of the Transgender persons through advocacy, policy influencing and implementation of various welfare schemes for the Transgender Persons. The department of Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disability (SSEPD), Government of Odisha has drafted a Transgender Persons Policy-2021 and invited views and comments from different Govt. Departments, civil societies and other stakeholders. In response to this invitation SAKHA, in collaboration with UNDP, HRLN, CFAR, Transgender Welfare Trust and AOKTA organized a two-day State-Level Consultation Meeting on Draft Policy for Transgender Persons-2021 on 23rd -24th December 2021 at Hotel Suryansh, Bhubaneswar.

  • WORLD AIDS DAY-2021

    SAKHA observed World AIDS Day on 1st December 2021 in Bhubaneswar and 8 districts of Odisha. This year the theme of the World AIDS Day 2021 was “End inequalities. End AIDS”. SAKHA has always stood up for the cause of HIV infected people and their family and will continue to do this noble cause in the coming days too. On the occasion of the WORLD AIDS DAY-2021 SAKHA organized awareness campaigns and candle rally in 8 districts of Odisha to create awareness on the need to focus on the importance and gains towards ending AIDS and some STIs. The focus was explicitly on the interventions to achieve adequate access to testing for early diagnosis of STI and HIV among the key population groups while addressing the pandemic. On this occasion our campaign focused on bringing the attention of all the stakeholders fighting for the prevention of HIV/AIDS like Authorities from ministries of health, AIDS managers, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working with HIV and donors, and health care providers, Transgender community and the general public.

  • State Level Consultation on "Opportunities & Gaps"

    State Level consultation on opportunities was organized on 20th November, 2021 on the occasion of Remembrance of Transgender Persons at Hotel Arya Palace , Bhubaneswar. The programme was organized by SAKHA, SAATHII, CFAR, Thirdgender Welfare Trust with the support of UNDP and SSEPD, Govt of Odisha. The meeting was inaugurated by Shri. Ananta Narayan Jena, MLA, Bhubaneswar (central).A total of 110 transgenders persons, TG activist & leaders, CBOs leaders representatives of PIA and NGOs participated in the meeting and shared their views on the opportunities, challenges and gaps in the implementation of various social protection, social entitlement and welfare programmes being implemented for the empowerment and inclusion of transgender persons.

  • Transgender Remembrance Day, 20th November 2021

    Transgender Remembrance Day was observed on 20th November 2021 by SAKHA, SAATHII, CFAR with the support of UNDP and SSEPD govt of Odisha. A candle march was organized from Rajmahal Square to Master Canteen square, Bhubaneswar to mark the occasion and to give tribute to the transgender persons who lost their life in acts of Anti-transgender violence.

  • TG participate in Cyclothon Organized by BSCL

    A special cyclothon was organized by BSCL on 31st October 2021, with the participation of Transgender Community to to create awareness on non-motorized transport to promote pollution free environment.
